How to become smarter and intelligent daily:
1. Question the Conventional-Wisdom to Become Smarter
Since childhood we have been taught to believe things like “Honesty is the best policy”, or “Formal Education is a Must”. But today when you ask these questions to yourself. Do really think honesty is the best policy? If a patient asks you if he is going to die?, will you literally say ‘Yes’? Or Today looking back in time, how important do you think your school was? Did you develop any real-life skills during your school days? Always try to develop your own version of conventional wisdom instead of accepting the same. Besides, you are a unique person why should your version of wisdom be conventional?
- How to Self-Question is the Most Important to becoming smart
The Greek philosopher Aristotle said: “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Self-questioning is the only thing that will help you know “Who You Are?”, ” What do you want?”and “How will you reach there?”. Learn to ask yourself questions like:
What am I good at? Something I suck at? What do I love to do? Things I hate? Would I choose Money with less peace of mind or Peace of Mind with less money? What makes me happy? Why do I get sad? What do I value in life?
And the list goes on… Prepare a list of all such questions and then answer them with the first thing that comes to your mind. Don’t overthink just answer! Once all the questions and answers use them to improve your life. Here’s how to do it.
Find your weak areas and try to improve on them at the same time use your strengths to the maximum. Knowing something like that you want Peace-of-Mind over Money will help you make smarter decisions when the choice is between the two.
- Discuss! Don’t Argue, to be intelligent
This is something we personally love! Most of the times when people find conflicting opinions they tend to argue instead of discussing. The biggest issue with this practice is: “When you are arguing, you try to find who is correct. But when you are discussing, you try to find what is correct.” So, a smarter person always wants to learn what is correct. Be the smarter one and take the clue!
- Become a Problem Solver
Try to list 5 smart people in your life with extremely different personalities. Now you’ll find that they have one thing in common. That is they are all problem solvers. It is not because they are smart so they can solve problems. It is because they can solve problems so they are smart. Now when we say to solve problems, we are not asking you to decode the Enigma Machine. You can start with smaller things like ‘helping someone cut down their expenses’ or ‘help someone get out of a blood-sucking job’. Just start solving problems and your brain will start becoming smarter.
- Challenge Yourself!
When you challenge yourself daily, you find what works for you and what doesn’t. Also, taking up new challenges will allow your brain to solve new problems. This will make you a natural problem solver. What to know how can you start to challenge yourself? Start with this quote of Richard Branson: “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!”
- Be Open to Smart New Ideas
This is something that smarter people always do. They are always open to new ideas and methods of doing something. They’ll always patiently listen to the perspectives of others and utilize whatever is useful. The best way to get more ideas is to network with as many people as possible. The more people you meet these the more perspectives of life you get… Go out there and find different personalities with different perspectives and your perspective to life, will automatically become a smarter one!
7. Read Smarter Books & NewsPapers (Don’t use Apps for this)
Let’s dive into this one after reading one of my favourite quotes. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ~ Dr. Seuss READING is one of the most common characteristics you’ll find among all the smart and intelligent people you know. They’ll read things that will help them explore new avenues and also make sure that they are updated with the recent developments in their field of expertise. Here’s a suggestion on reading newspapers. When you read newspapers, read hard-copy or e-copy and not news applications. The reason behind this is that all the new apps are using machine learning. So, the higher the usage of these apps the better is the accuracy of the suggestions. The only problem with this is, if these apps show you only what you want to read then there will be no room for different opinions in your brain and you’ll end up reading the content which already matches with your views. We hope these suggestions were useful to you. Let us know about the ways we have missed out, in the comment section.
